10 - Cunningham
Depending on the yacht, you can distinguish 2 different situations:
1) Control lines that runs through blocks, with a gear ratio (e.g. 1:4). Here good grip, some flexibility are important (easy to manually handle).
2) Lines in systems, often taking the total load (so without gear). These lines should have high strength low elongation (e.g. Dyneema®/ D-core) to ensure good a sail trim: sail stays flat with increasing winds. For Regatta yachts we recommend control lines with a core of Dyneema® or Stirotex®.
